August Macke (1887-1914), was one of the most popular, expressionistic, German painters. He was open to various artistic trends of his era and liked to experiment with his paintings. In his early works we can find portraits which reflected the personality of his subjects. Macke was also painting motifs connected with every day life without looking at symbolism: his house, gardens, landscapes, strolls, animals, all these that are motifs to be found in his creations.
